Heated Chemotherapy

The latest mode of chemotherapy is the heated chemotherapy. It has been proved that the effect of the chemotherapy drug is far more enhanced. Intra-peritoneal hyper thermic chemotherapy is the method that is used after the heated chemotherapy drugs are infused into the body to destroy the tumor. The heat that is generated due to this helps these chemotherapy drugs to work more efficiently thus weakening the tumor cells to lose its ability to repair itself.

Traditional method no doubt did help cure cancer patients but then research has proved that these methods are not only more effective in treating various types of cancers but are also helpful in making the lives of cancer patients more easier to live in thus enhancing not the quantity but the quality of their lives.

Chemotherapy drugs are effective in treating cancers if detected at the initial stages and the side effects that are related to chemotherapy are sometimes temporary and disappear after the completion of the treatment cycle but then there are some side effects that have a more lasting side effect which can be sometimes fatal.

Heated chemotherapy has proved to be more effective for treating patients suffering from cancers of the abdomen even when the cancer has been detected at later stages and it has also helped in treating cancers of the other body organs like the appendix. Standard modes of treating cancer have been less successful in treating cancers detected at an advanced stage thus decreasing the survival rates. On the other hand heated chemotherapy has proved to increase not only the survival rate even when cancer is detected at an advanced stage but has also helped them live a quality life.

In heated mode of chemotherapy there is a combination of treatment i.e. surgery as well as heated chemotherapy. Here the drug administered only after the removal of the tumor and the treatment is given in two cycles as it helps during surgery. The drug is administered directly into the abdominal cavity while the surgery is on so that there is the destruction of the cancerous cells even when the tumor is being removed from the body.

It has also been found that these cancerous cells are far more sensitive to the chemical heat that is generated in the body due to these chemotherapy drugs than the normal body tissues thus these cells are unable to repair the wear and tear of these cells when the drug is being administered.

Peritoneal cancers and cancers of the abdomen have been successfully treated using the heated chemotherapy mode of treatment. It has been found that the cancer affects the inner lining of the abdominal walls which later on affects most of the other major body organs thus this mode of treatment prevents the spread of cancer to other body organs.

Ovarian cancer even when detected in the advanced stage has been cured using this mode of treatment. Standard chemotherapy methods when show a failure in helping the cancer patient get relieve then heated chemotherapy is used to prevent the spread of cancer. As in this mode of treatment the drug is administered during the surgery the drug attacks the cancer cells directly thus preventing the side effects to the bare minimal.
